Maruti Suzuki has launched 5 cars in CNG last year, in August 2010. With the increasing prices of Petrol, which increase every now and then, making the running cost of petrol a big hole in pocket, there has been an increased demand of the CNG cars in metro cities of India where CNG is available. CNG is not only eco-friendly and clean fuel, but also cheaper on running cost considering the crazy pricing of petrol in India. BMW Motorrad, the Motorcycle brand of German auto major BMW has selected the India Hero motors as its supplier for Motorcycle transmission gearboxes. Hero Motors is the motorcycle major in India with their Hero Honda Joint venture which has recently split into Hero Group retaining the major stake in the company. This contract is a major win for the company not only in financial terms, but also in terms of the establishing its technological expertise as an auto parts maker. Gearbox or transmission is a crucial component for a motorcycle and largely affects the performance and  quality of ride. The BMW bikes are known for their masculine powerful nature, these are performance packed bikes.   Hero Motors gearboxes will be used for the global models and there is a five to eight years contract on supplying the gearboxes to BMW in its Germany plant.   Speaking on this contract, Mr Pankaj Munjal the MD of Hero Motors quoted: We have developed the gearbox ourselves. Audi is all set to unwrap the new luxurious offering from the sedan segment, the Audi A7 Sportback. The A7 is a mixture of the a sedan and a coupe and is quite distinguishable from the current offerings which are Audi A8, Audi A6 etc. Importantly the car will be positioned very close to the A8 and will bear the next generation evolutionary design that will be seen in all the upcoming cars from the brand. The car is comparable to the A8 and is marginally smaller than the latter. Tata is working on the diesel variant of its popular small car Tata Nano for quite sometime. Tata has been developing the Diesel engine for Tata Nano Diesel with Bosch which is a leading automobile component manufacturer. The Petrol version of Tata Nano, which runs on a MPFI engine which is BS4 compatible and delivers 20+ KMPL of mileage. The upcoming diesel engine of Tata Nano will be even more fuel efficient with an estimated mileage of 40 Km per litre of diesel (official test data not available as yet) per litre of diesel. This will make Tata Nano the cheapest running cost diesel car in probably the whole world ! Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has been selling strong with an aim of a specular sales numbers in the coming financial year 2011-12. In the first month of this fiscal, Maruti's sales grew by 4.4% overall compared to the same month in the year 2010. While the domestic sales grew by 8.9% overall, the export sales did see a drop of about 23% this year. The best growth has been observed in the sales of Maruti SX4 sedan and Maruti Swift Dzire, with a total growth of 39.1%, the main reason being the overwhelming response of the customers towards the Maruti SX4 Diesel which has been launched just a couple of months back. Small cars sales have also been strong at over 57000 cars sold in the A2 segment (staring from Maruti Alto up to Maruti Ritz and Wagon R).
