Hyundai HA Small Car Alto Rival India Launch Date In November 2011? Posted: 18 May 2011 05:02 AM PDT As per the latest information on the launch timeline of the small car from Hyundai India, the 800 CC Hyundai HA aka Hyundai 800 is expected to launch in November 2011. The car is in testing phase and will make its debut in India in a segment below the Hyundai Santro, currently the lowest priced car from Hyundai India. The Hyundai HA is expected to be priced close to a price tag of Rs. 2.5 Lakhs to compete head on with the Maruti Alto, which is world's largest selling small car. The Skoda Yeti is the cheapest SUV from Skoda and costs more than Rs. 15 Lakhs, however there are many customers who are willing to shell up to Rs. 10 Lakh for an SUV. Hero Group have bough the stake of Honda in Hero Honda joint venture and now the Hero group is re-organizing the brand and operations of the Hero Honda. Although Hero Group has rights to use the name Hero Honda till 2014 as per the contract, but Hero Group wants to use a different name to make its place in the mind and heart of buyers. Hero Group has applied for the name change of Hero Honda to Hero Moto. Hero Moto name has been applied for by Hero group to the registrar of companies in India. Once its approved, the official proceedings in the name change will continue as Hero Honda is a listed company. Hero Group will be spending a good amount of money to complete the re-branding exercise by hiring experienced professionals from world renowned agency Wolff Olins for the job. Ford India To Spend Rs. 320 Crores To Increase Production Capacity At Chennai Engine Plant Posted: 17 May 2011 04:31 AM PDT Ford is growing fast in India since the launch of its stellar Ford Figo in India. The soon to be launched Ford Fiesta 2011 may prove to be another trump card for the future sales of Ford India. To keep the growth growing strong and keeping in mind the future expansions plans, Ford has announced a $72 million US Dollars (about 320 Crore rupees) to increase the production capacity at the Chennai Engine plant of Ford India. When the expansion programme is completed in mid-2012, the engine plant's production capacity will increase from 250,000 to 330,000 units per year, an additional output of 80,000 diesel engines annually. "This investment reinforces the importance of our Chennai plant and Ford’s continued expansion in India," said Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India. “This expansion will allow us to provide more technologically advanced and fuel-efficient engines to our customers in India and in markets around the world where we export Chennai-built vehicles.” The expansion of diesel engine production capacity will bring Ford's total investment in India to more than US$ 1 billion.
