Toyota India June 2011 Sales Grew 94% YoY Posted: 01 Jul 2011 08:43 AM PDT Toyota India registered sales of 12034 units in June 2011 as compared to 6180 units in June 2010. This is a considerable growth number of 94% over the same month sales in 2010. Toyota Etios had a strong contribution of sold 5002 units in this sales number. Toyota has also launched the new Toyota Etios Liva hatchback on the 27th of June in New Delhi at a price of Rs. 3.99 Lakhs ex-showroom. The Liva has already clocked a handsome number of over 1400 bookings since the time of its launch. Mercedes-Benz India Jan-June YoY Sales Growth Is 58% Posted: 01 Jul 2011 05:37 AM PDT Mercedes Benz India maintained its strong market performance in the first six months of the year, as it announced an impressive half yearly sales. The company sold a total of 3798 units from January – June 2011, which is a growth of 58% compared to the same period last year (2402 units in 2010). June 2011 sales have also witnessed a growth of 46%, with a total of 565 units sold compared to June 2010-2011 In the period of January to June 2011, continuing its popularity run, the company's flagship sedan and the segment best seller C-Class registered a sale of 1746 units growing by a mammoth 88% (Jan-June 2010: 928 units); while the E-Class grew by 25% clocking 1328 units (Jan-Jun 2010: 1059). Nissan Sunny Launch In India By December 2011 Posted: 01 Jul 2011 05:24 AM PDT Nissan Motor India Private Limited (NMIPL), the Indian subsidiary of Nissan Motor Limited has climbed steps of success through its hatchback car Nissan Micra and now rolled out its plan to globally introduce its all new sedan by end of this year 2011. The Managing Director of Nissan Motor India Private Limited Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama shared some insights at the launch of a new dealership outlet at Vadodra, quoted: "The new global sedan (Nissan Sunny) will be based on the same platform as that of Micra and will be built from our existing production plant at Chennai. Next year, we are also planning to roll out our first multi-purpose vehicle (Nissan NV200) through our joint venture with Ashok Leyland," With the launch of new luxury sedan next year, the company will complete its product offering in all the segments starting from a small car to the luxury sedan. Ford India Sales Grow 53% YoY In January-June 2011 Posted: 01 Jul 2011 05:15 AM PDT Despite market challenges, Ford India delivered its 100,000th Figo this month and has increased sales by 53 percent for the year. Ford India sold more than 60,000 units wholesale and export vehicles from January to June 2011, compared to 39,465 units sold during the same period last year. In June the company had combined wholesale and exports of 9,145 vehicles, compared to 8,483 units in June 2010. Michael Boneham, president and managing director, Ford India quoted: Due to continued strong sales of the Figo, the last 15 months have been very successful in this hugely competitive market. Hyundai India Registers 13.6% YoY Sales Growth In June 2011 Posted: 01 Jul 2011 02:42 AM PDT Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the country's second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter continued to grow with cumulative sales growing by 13.6% for the month of June, 2011. HMIL's total sales for June, 2011 stood at 52,531 units as against 46,253 units in June, 2010 registering a cumulative growth of 13.6%. The domestic sales accounted for 30,402 units as against 27,366 units in June, 2010 registering growth of 11.1% while the exports grew by 17.2% from 18,887 units in June, 2010 to 22,129 units in June, 2011. Commenting on June, 2011 sales, Arvind Saxena, Director – Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, "The market continued to be slow but Hyundai sales have grown partially due to the success of New Verna. We have received over 21,000 customer bookings for the New Verna so far and we are trying to fulfill the demand." Skoda India Registered 69% YoY Growth In June 2011 Posted: 01 Jul 2011 01:07 AM PDT Skoda Auto India today announced a strong growth of 69% for June 2011 over the same period last year. Skoda Auto India's total sales for June 2011 stood at 2611 units against 1639 units for June 2010. Skoda is emerging as a strong global automobile player in its segment with sales of 2611 units, for the month of June, 2011. Mr. Thomas Kuehl, Board Member, Sales and Marketing, Skoda Auto India said, "We are extremely content with the customer response to our products. The 69 % growth this month acknowledges our efforts to offer consumers a value offering and great products. We have being growing consistently from the start of 2011 and will do so for the rest of the year. We will continue to focus on customer experience, dealership network and improved after-sales experience" Skoda is working on their dealership network and after-sales service to enhance customer experience while reaching out to a larger section of customers across the country. Hyundai i15 aka HB Next Generation Hyundai Small Car Interiors Pictures Leaked Posted: 30 Jun 2011 11:59 PM PDT Hyundai with its league of small cars is doing pretty well in the Indian automobile sector and with the cumulative sales of Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20, accounts for more than 15% of the total market share. The Korean manufacturer now has decided to widen the small gap between the two cars with an all new car called the Hyundai HB or Hyundai i15. Basically the car is is targeted at emerging markets like ours and the Brazilian one. The concern regarding the two Hyundai successes was the i10 being smaller and the i20 being slightly expensive so the i15 is going to aim between the two with competitive pricing and appreciable space. After driving the Fiesta at the Deep Drive event by Ford India, It was evident that the Diesel portfolio is getting better and better with time. The Fiesta Diesel drove very smooth and silent and in-fact was better on highway compared to the Petrol version. With the rising prices of petrol and increasing running cost, car manufacturers are forced to keep the mileage high by tuning the engine more on the economy side as compared to the performance. Considering all these factors, the Indian auto industry is under a gradual shift with the inclination of buyers as well as carmakers drifting towards the Diesel engine cars.
